Laure Gauthier has been appointed Deputy General Rapporteur of the Autorité de la concurrence by decision of the General Rapporteur, Stanislas Martin, who heads the Autorité's Investigation Services. From 4 January 2021, she will head Antitrust Unit 1, which is responsible for cases relating to the transport and energy sectors.

She succeeds Umberto Berkani, who is coming to the end of his term as Deputy General Rapporteur. The Autorité expresses its sincere thanks to him for his eight years of work as Deputy General Rapporteur.

Biography

Doctor of public Law (2006), Laure Gauthier is the author of a thesis on the opening of the transport sector to competition. She joined the Conseil de la concurrence in 2007 as legal counsel and rapporteur, in charge of the railway transport sector cases, before taking up the position of Deputy Head of the Autorité's Legal Service in 2010, charged with managing the Referendaires and Litigation Section. Between 2013 and 2019, she served as a rapporteur for Antitrust Unit 3, which is responsible for the retail sector, where her investigations included the Nespresso, Zinc, Floor Coverings and Cold Cuts cases. Rapporteur for the Mergers Unit since 2019, she has worked on the acquisition of oil pipeline companies with the Pisto/Trapil and Ardian/Société du Pipeline Méditerranée-Rhône cases.

In 2019 W@Competition honoured Laure Gauthier as one of the ‘40 in their 40s’ Notable Women Competition Professionals in Europe, America and Africa, in the “Institutional” category.
