The Autorité de la concurrence clears the merger of the Macif and Aésio insurance groups
On 7 February 2020, the Macif and Aésio groups notified the Autorité de la concurrence of their planned merger.
Parties to the transaction
The MACIF group is a French insurance group active mainly in the damage, personal, savings and asset management insurance sectors. It is organised around a mutual insurance group company to which Macif SAM for insurance and Macif Santé Prévoyance are affiliated, gathering the group's mutual insurances.
The Aésio group is a group mutualist union resulting from the merger in 2016 of three mutual insurances (Andréa, Apréva e Eovi-Mcd). It is mainly active in the health insurance sector.
The transaction is not likely to harm competition
The parties' positions on the relevant markets being limited, the Autorité was able to rule out any competition concerns and clear the transaction without condition.
