12 January 2018: Equipment rental
The Autorité de la concurrence clears the acquisition of the company Kiloutou
by the Dentressangle Initiatives group
On 22 December 2017, the Dentressangle Initiatives1 group notified the Autorité de la concurrence of its plan to acquire the company Kiloutou.
Parties to the transaction
Dentressangle Initiatives group is active in numerous sectors: real estate development, textile printing, safety equipment, marketing studies, and surveys (Ifop).
Kiloutou specializes in equipment rental, mainly for professionals. It offers various construction tools and equipment for hire, as well as products known as « multilocation » products (heating and air-conditioning devices, ladders, etc.) along with specialized equipment (modular buildings, power generators and pumps, etc.).
The transaction is not one that would harm competition
As the Dentressangle Initiatives group does not control companies involved in the same business sector as the one Kiloutou is active in, or in related markets, the transaction is not one to reduce competition in the equipment rental markets.
A decision taken within a shorter time period
The transaction benefited from the simplified examination procedure, provided by the Autorité de la concurrence guidelines on merger control. It enables companies to submit a simplified application and enables the Autorité to issue a decision within a shorter time period (3 weeks).
1The Dentressangle Initiatives group is controled by the family of Norbert Dentressangle
